About Me

Details of my personal life and history can be found by reading “My Story” (accessed by clicking the My Story link on the site menu). The following information will give you more insight into my life here at the Chillicothe Correctional Center.

Throughout my incarnation I have help many different jobs in several departments, picking up various skills along the way. I held several clerical positions, one in the Cosmetology class. This included keeping up with the inventory. I handled all the appointments and kept track of all the records directly under the teacher. I also held a clerical position in Maintenance (this also involved keeping up with the inventory) as well as in the chapel library.

In the IAC department, I was the photographer. I took photos in the visiting room. There is where I felt a bit of freedom. I took pride in this as I was part of these women’s memories. These pictures are brief snapshots of our lives with our loved ones. Sometimes it was with their children, sometimes grandparents. I respected and understood the importance of those moments. I always took my time, helped pose them and honestly enjoyed every moment. Some of the women to this day will approach me and give me updates on their family members I took photos of.

Other work experience includes:

  • Institutional Laundry
  • Recreation Department
  • Institutional Kitchen
  • Floor repair and maintenance
  • Canteen (where I helped with ordering and inventory).
  • Trainer for Puppies for Parole
  • Teacher and tutor for Puppies for Parole

Recently, I was given a scholarship with Rockhurst University. I am one of twenty inmates chosen to participate. We meet once a week and have been doing so for a little over two years now. I have successfully completed the following:
  • Writing Composition I
  • Writing Composition II
  • Art as Math
  • Theology I
  • Environmental Science
  • Psychology
  • History of World Societies

This education has been the greatest opportunity I have received since being incarcerated. It is something I genuinely appreciate and enjoy.

Although those serving life sentences have limited programs made available to them, I have completed the following since being here:
  • Impact of Crime on Victims
  • Anger Management Program
  • Animal Trainer
  • Blast
  • Pathways to Change

I have purposed to use my time here at Chillicothe Correction Institution to not only better myself but hopefully help those around me.
